The Shepherds, they watched..

Merry Christmas to everyone reading this. Know that we are all wishing you the blessings of family, warmth, comfort and joy.

As many families prepare to gather around at the dining room table and partake in the traditional Christmas meal, our little family holds each other close and thanks God for another cluster free day. That’s not to say we spent Christmas entirely seizure free however.  To celebrate the arrival of Santa Claus, Pepper had an early morning seizure. She later decided to protest her lack of a decent nap as a result of her brother joyfully playing with his toys, by having second seizure. Not enough seizures to call it a cluster, but enough to confirm that Santa Claus unfortunately could not grant our Christmas wish.

In the days since Daddy’s last entry, we reached and passed the 200 seizure count. Pepper came down with pneumonia, for which we spent some time in Sick Kids getting diagnosed. Her big brother also came down with some sort of virus that kept him in bed for a couple of days, and now Pepper is back to being sick. Rinse wash repeat.

Pepper’s seizure count now stands at approximately 209 seizures and we continue to wish for an end to them.

We hope and pray that Santa was able to grant all of your wishes, and as the day draws to a close we wanted to take this time to thank you for all the love, support and prayers you have given us over these last few months. It means so much to us to be supported by this invisible web of love and kindness. Please take the time this holiday to stay for another cup of coffee, or hold that goodbye hug a little longer. In the very least, cast your protective armour aside long enough to tell your family that you love them and you are grateful for them. It’s a free gift that lasts a lifetime and means more than anything you can hold in your hands. Take it from us, we have been given the gift of your kind words, and they have held us up many times.

So you see, we have been spending our holidays watching.. Watching the soft downy hairs on Pepper’s head rise with her temperature, watching the temperature rise on the thermometer, watching the timer as Pepper has a seizure, watching for Santa out the window, watching for a sign from God that we have weathered the storm and are now free from these seizures.  We are shepherds watching our flock and waiting for our angel.
